July column (Colonne de Juillet) is a structure that stands on the place of the Bastille prison, a symbol of aristocratic oppression in France which was brought down with the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. Placed between the arrondissements 4th, 11th and 12th it has come to represent liberty in post French revolution France.
